Motorists and commuters encountered a huge traffic snarl in Manila yesterday afternoon as a result of the closure of a portion of Roxas Boulevard for the re-launching of the Department of Tourism’s “Wow Philippines.”The stretch of Bonifacio Drive from Anda Circle to 25th Street was suddenly closed to vehicular traffic at 1 p.m. to give way to the tilbury race.

“Part of Roxas Boulevard was closed to traffic because of the tilbury race and this probably caused the traffic jam,” Tourism Undersecretary Oscar Palabyab said in an interview.

But Palabyab said the organizers of the event secured the necessary permit and they expected the Manila Police department to undertake the necessary rerouting to prevent a traffic jam.
